Lampson International was recently contracted for an hourly project utilizing a Manitowoc 16000 (450 ton) crane to offload 16 large modules being transported from Canada. The job scope entailed the use of multiple rigging changes using as many as 7 spreader bars. The units were offloaded to the ground and then placed on a barge to be towed to their final destination. The units ranged in size from 30 ton to 65 ton and as wide as 24’ and long as 80’. The work scope also involved the lashing procedures, which required chain and binders and 440 lugs welded to the barge for securing the load.
